Pumpkin Patch with Cousins

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Yeah...my first slide show!!! Now I just have to figure out how to get that sexy lady out of the way so you can see the pictures. That's for next time. Anyway, Matt got off early on Monday so he could study for his test, and so Matt's sisters and I decided to take all the kids to the pumpkin patch. As you can see from the pics, they had a great time.

"Hide and Go Poop"

I loved playing hide and go seek when I was young. I have a lot of funny memories playing it with my older siblings. Usually we played it as a family home evening activity. I think my sisters and brothers liked to play it so they could tease Mark and I.

Well now days I play "hide and go poop." Anytime Haley is missing, we know what's going on. The game begins. Lately we have been following the smell. Then when we get close, you can hear her say her famous two letter word, "NO." That's not when it's over though. Then you have to wait for her to come out of the hiding spot and say, "Change me." Well anyways I have some evidence about how exciting it can be around our house during our new exciting game.

Has anybody got to play this game before?

Eating... A Time Waster???

Matt and I decided to leave the kids and go to dinner last night with just us two. At dinner, Matt started to talk about how he wishes we didn't have to eat. That's when my ears opened a little wider. He went on to say how eating is such a time waster. It takes a while to cook, then to actually eat it, then to clean up. In our case last night, Matt got home from work at 6:00. We dropped the kids off and were at Los Hermanos at 7:30. We picked the kids up at 8:30 and well, there goes the rest of the night.

After all, Matt is totally right. The hard thing about it all is that some of the best conversations/fights come over a good meal. I think last night was the first night we have had to talk about the "Big Test," he has coming up on Tuesday. When I was growing up I remember all us Sorensen's sitting in our assigned seats at the dinner table eating and having a good meal with a good conversation. Hats off to my mom and dad for making us be home at 5:30 to eat dinner together.

Eating can be a time waster, but it is a good excuse to put our busy lives on hold and be social with family and friends.

What good conversations or maybe fights have you had over a meal?

Anybody Need a Band Aid?

I just love our kid's imaginations. They are so sensitive to everyone's needs. I can't believe how much I am loved by my 2 year old. One minute I'm crying about how frustrated she makes me and the next minute I'm crying that she is so sensitive to my needs.

Well in this incident, she got Wallace, Grommit and her baby taken care of and asked if mommy needed a Band Aid too. I'm so glad a box of Band Aids are only just over $1 because everyone gets very well taken care of here. All you need to do is get tossed out of her crib or cry.

Now my question is why Wallace got one on his ding @#*%?

Sunday Morning Snow

Winter is coming( I don't think I have ever taken a picture of our home)

Well here it is, Sunday morning and to our surprise, our first real snow for the year. This is what I saw as I looked out our window this morning. There is nothing exciting about living in the snow except when you know you don't have to run anywhere first thing in the morning. We live in such a beautiful world.

10 THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT ME

I put about 3500-4000 boxes or bags of cookies and crackers on the shelf 3 days a week.
I'm a people watcher. I love to go places and sit on a bench and watch what people do.(I'm weird)
I don't like to run out of stuff. I hate the quick trip to the store.
I would rather play a game then watch a movie.
I don't iron...in fact I don't own anything that needs to be ironed.
I still buy Cover Girl and Mabeline makeup.
I just got a $370 cell phone bill. Ouch!
I very seldom wear my wedding ring because I want to keep it new.
I don't buy jackets or sweaters very often because they only come in size extra short.
I buy premium gas for my car.

Now I tag anyone who wants to give this a stab.

Equate Lasagna

Well here I am, reviewing another good choice. My friend Lindsey was telling us that she visited the local Walmart for some lasagna for dinner one night. They were out of the ever so popular Stouffer's lasagna so she tried the Walmart brand. Turns out, she liked it better then Stouffer's. So I wanted to put it to the test. Well, my $4 purchase didn't disappoint. I'm not saying Stouffer's isn't good, but I was very well pleased with the cheaper and tasty choice of Equate Lasagna.

WHAT WE DO FOR OUR KIDS

This is what I saw as I walked into Haley's room last night. Matt said he would snuggle with Haley in her bed, not his. Haley still wasn't happy about it. Maybe because her dad was taking up more then his half of her bed. Oh...what we do for our children.

Winder Dairy

I've never been one to be picky about my milk but yesterday was a day to catch a good sale out of me. I was at Kyra's house when the Winder sales man came over. Her offered us some cold milk. In the midst of our kids screaming and hitting each other, we listened to the guy tell us his little sales pitch. Well before we knew it, we had our credit cards out.

So if anyone has anything that they like from Winder Dairy, let me know and I'll give it a try. After all, Matt spends his money on computer stuff and mine goes to Winder Dairy...at least this month.

Just Another Package

I just have to vent a minute. Every day this week, either UPS, DHL, or the USPS has come by with a package to Matt Andersen. Yes here it is Thursday and I haven't heard the bell ring yet, but I'm awaiting. What next?

Well yesterday I was getting after him because about once a week something comes from Apple. Usually something we don't need and maybe will never use but we've got to have the latest. This time though Matt had me open it. Okay, and why would I want to open it? I ended up doing the normal rip job on the box to find a brand new pink iPod for me. This was make up for Matt putting mine through the wash. Well even though it comes from the same bank account it was a lot more exciting for me to get something from Apple when I was least expecting it.

I guess I get all fired up about his spendy habits but realize that I can't change him and after all sometimes he makes up for it.

More Recent Embarrassment

I feel like I can come to share some of my embarrassing moments here on my blog. Here is a good one that just happened on Thursday.

Well on Thursday I was on the phone with someone from HR to get my paycheck figured out. Matt was downstairs with the kids and you could hear Maya giving him a hard time so I knew it wouldn't be long before he was up here with her. Well as he was coming up the stairs (3 feet away from him), he yells,"Susan I hope there is a boob available for Maya." Okay so Michelle from HR heard the whole thing right into the phone. Well I guess I ended talking to Michelle rather quickly.

This isn't the first time Matt has embarrassed me. This one has been shared many times but I'll post it for some more good times.

Right after Matt and I got married, I was in the tub shaving and Matt comes in talking to me and before I could see he had my visiting teacher on the phone I said, "I'm in here shaving my kitty cat." By then I looked up and well still got something set up for the month. Well she could be described as the one maybe to never bring up kitty cats with.

I guess it's a good thing I don't get embarrassed easily and can laugh about kitty cats and boobs.

Fall Favorites

Pumpkin Pancakes

2 cups pancake or waffle mix
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 12-ounce evaporated milk
1 cup pumpkin
3 Tbsp veg. oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs

Mix all together and beat until smooth. Cook like regular pancakes.

(This is an awesome recipe to try with the pancakes. My aunt gave me this one and now it's the family favorite)

Buttermilk syrup

1 cup butter(not margarine)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix first 3 together until melted on stove top. Add baking soda and vanilla. It will foam so use a little bigger sauce pan to allow for that.

Poppy Seed Pasta Salad

1 pkg. ruffle or wheel pasta, cooked drained and cooled
1/2 cup red seedless grapes(cut in 4ths)
2 cups cooked chicken
1/3 cup red chopped onion
1 1/2 cup ranch out of the bottle dressing
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbsp poppy seed

Mix first 4 ingredients, set aside. Mix next 3 in another bowl and pour over pasta mixture. If you want to make it ahead, add a little extra ranch before serving. This makes quite a bit.
